“There are always too many Democratic congressmen, too many Republican congressmen , and never enough U.S. congressmen.”
A centrist is an individual that is either a moderate Democrat, moderate Republican, or an independent who thinks that policy should not be determined by ideology.
Centrists believe that no party has a monopoly on good ideas.
Centrists believe that policies should be determined on individual basis and differ for each situation. This differs from partisans/ideologues who think that their principles and policies should be applied to every situation even when it does not make sense and is not practical. For example, liberals usually promote government spending even when it cannot afford it. And conservatives usually promote tax cuts even when the government has a budget deficit. Neither is practical or based on common sense.
Centrists believe that our elected officials should focus on collaboration rather than confrontation with each other.
